Half a year ago, I got the fish of my dreams: brochis multiradiatus. And they were LARGE! Really large! My group is the largest multiradiatuses I've ever seen! I have great love for the large cory species (I count brochises as cories ), and then brochis multiradiatus is the best it can ever get. I just love them to bits.

They are very picky when it comes to food. I was expecting a love for food to match their size, but no! They don't touch a lot of food my other cories just love. They don't touch freeze dried tubifex, TetraTips, Tetra Wafer Mix, JBL Tabis, Tetra discus nor my own shrimp mix (which every other fish in my house love). They don't like to eat while I'm around either, so it took quite a while before I realized that they ate at all. But they've been wonderfully healthy so far. They are just so beautiful! And they have the most wonderfully long barbels. So I decided that it's time for me to share pics of my beautiful group. The quality of the pics aren't the best, but enjoy anyway! Sorry to post so many of them, but I just have to share my beautiful brochises.

Wow,that is one stunning group of Brochis multiradiatus Out of the Brochis group,this is definately the one i would loved to keep.Have you ever thought about trying to breed them?

Thanks! Breeding them is a dream of mine. But large cories aren't the easiest to breed. If I succeed, what an amazing number of fry that would be! Those large bodies must spawn an infinte number of eggs.

Lovely fish- I've always liked all the Brochis species, but especially britskii and multiradiatus- it's just that a group of them is out of my price range at the moment. I'm surprised they're fussy/shy feeders- my splendens make gravel vacuuming a quite stressful experience as they swarm round the siphon whenever I'm extracting water, and they'll even stop and look for food whilst being chased with a net!

Yes, I'm surprised of their shyness too. They have a very different temperament than the b. splendens (I have a small group of them as well). I love all the brochis species. I don't know what makes me love them (except the size)I would love to have a group of b. britskii some day too, but they are never in the trade. And if I found them one day, I surely couldn't afford them. The group of multiradiatuses cost quite a bit. I had planned to start with a group of 5, but I couldn't leave the last 3 behind in the shop, so I bought all 8 of them. I haven't regretted it at all! They really need to be a group that size. I had the chance to buy 4 more later on (a bit smaller though), but I came to my senses. I would love to have a larger group, but it was too expensive.

There's one thing they love to eat: earthworms. When I was trying to find out what they would eat, someone suggested live earthworms. And they couldn't resist a living, waving worm. It was really fun to see how they handled the worms. You could see that this was natural for them to handle (they are wild caught, BTW). I had never belived I would see a violent cory, but they were! I felt sorry for the earthworm. But one worm took revenge. It was too large for them to eat, so it moved around in the tank for a while. When one of the fishes wasn't watching (and the fish is very shy), the worm crawled up from behind and tickled him on his most private spot. I can tell you that there was a fish that went into hinding very quickly!

Wow!! Amazing group of fish. I love Brochis multiradiatus. There were a few at a local shop a couple of months ago but they were priced at $30 each which is way out of my price range.

Are you feeding them anything besides earthworms?
What are your water parameters??

Wow that's just fantastic!!!! I saw a pair of B. multiradiatus at my lfs couple months back, going for AUD$90 EACH!!! Didn't get them, and my biggest regret of the year

Ouch! That was quite some price. I didn't pay that much. But I wasn't cheap either. Actually I didn't have money to buy them at that time. But when you find the fish of your dreams, and they are so healthy looking, you find money in some strange way anyway.

Earthworms are just snacks. I rarely feed them that. I feed them bloodworms, JBL NovoTab, Tetra TabiMin and Hikari Sinking wafers. I also try to teach them to eat Tetra Discus. I haven't tried mosquito larvae (white or black) yet, as the LFSs here don't sell it. I have tried daphnies, but they wouldn't eat that either. They are really picky. I never thought I would see such a picky cory. The other large species I have, have an appetite to match their size. My B. splendens are sucking up bloodworms like a vacuum cleaner. But these brochises only eat when I'm not looking. They eat mostly at night. Only bloodworms and earthworms can make them eat during the day. But only when they think I'm not watching...

They live in a species only tank, 150 liters. Right now I keep them at PH 6.4, and if nothing has changed lately, KH is 2 and GH is 3-4. Temperature depends on the temperature in the room, as I've turned off the heater for the summer. Right now it's 23 degrees celsius. The temperature is always a concern during summer. My house gets very, very hot, and it's hard for fishes that likes cooler water. I will be nervous about this group this summer. They seem to like colder water.
