Pimelodid

I got this fish in as Leiarius marmoratus but the head shape and body pattern do not look right to me. The missing dorsal doesn't help in identification but at least you can tell how wide the fin base is.

This is a Leiarius x Pseudoplatystoma hybrid.

That could explain why I had a hard time identifying it. This is a wild fish so the possibility of a hybrid did not occur to me.

I have seen this Leiarius x Pseudoplatystoma hybrid labeled as wild, but I have my doubts that this is true.

I have seen these hybrids labelled as wild but it just wouldn't happen - it is created with man's interference

It'll grow into a beast whatever happens!
Provided it's look after for correctly.

I think this "species" isn't in the Cat-eLog...

I posted a separate thread about this species quite a while ago but here is the source info...

I have one that looks just like the photos. Voracious eater - if he can, he gets far more into his mouth than he can even swallow. Fast grower - like both parents, especially Leiarius marmoratus. A beauty. When I bought him, he was NOT labeled as wild. Interesting that this aquabid ad says wild.
