Hey Everyone,
This came in as B. yarrelli but I'm inclined to think that it is actually B. rutilus. I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts.
Thanks,
Mark

Would it be possible for you to find out where the fish came from? AFAIK, there have been almost no fish coming out of the Red River drainage for the aquarium trade, so I think B. rutilus is quite unlikely.

I can ask but it's unlikely that I'll get an answer. This came from a traditional wholesaler and is not a fish I imported.

The only information I was able to get is that it came in from Thailand.

If it came from Thailand, it could be the Thai “yarrelli” or the Burmese “yarrelli”, neither of which are likely to be the true B. yarrelli (the true B. yarrelli is probably the same thing as B. bagarius, and what most people consider to be B. bagarius is unnamed).

Confused?

Interesting. I was not aware of that. So, basically all we know for sure is that it's a Bagarius.
Thanks for the info,
Mark
