These aren't a species or group I have studied much but my impression is that they are both males.

Dragonball, both of them are male, by looking at the length of their pectoral and the size of their pelvic fins. The pectoral for females does not or just reached its pelvic fin, while male's tend to overshot the pelvic. This is how i identified my spinosus.
I believe this must be your new purchase as they both looks not very well-fed yet. However, based on the coloration of its spottings, the one on the left, has a feminine look as it's spots are smudgy and not well-define. Maybe you will get a clearer picture if both of them are well-fed.

I do not have additional pics, especially from top view...Most of mine are in my breeding thread on spinosus.
You may consider getting them first and let see how it goes from there. Even if they are not a pair, their coloration still makes a wonderful and awesome fish to me.
