A Very Short One In Theni
Posted: 11 Mar 2010, 17:09
Was in Theni (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theni_district ) in South India last weekend and went collecting for around an hour. Twas my first visit to Theni and what I had read sounded very exciting. Unfortunately, the time I got to collect didnt gimme much chance. Here s a preview of what I collected. I was alone so no 'good' cameras this time.
The Collection Spot
Collected some large Danios. (
I was joined by some kids who were as excited as me. The Danios were 'gifted' to 'em. Just in case you wondering, the hands in the pics are the kids. Im endowed with rather large paws.
Collected a Garra and a coupla Schistura. Pictures will follow in a coupla days. These are currently in my quarantine tank. Danio s never seem to make my cut as an 'exciting' species.
No cats were spotted or collected. Most of the water systems were dry and what you see as waterfall in the above pic ended up looking like a cesspool a few metres downstream. Spotted a Puntius species too but these eluded my net very efficiently.
