In a couple of weeks I want to make an L201 biotope in an 80*40*40cm aquarium.

I've got some questions:
Do they need more stone of more wood? Or can i mix it?

I want to buy a powerhead for them. I think the "Hydor Koralia 2 nano stream" it pumps 2300 L/h.

What do they like to eat?

I would expect their natural habitat is mostly stone, and very low on plants/wood. However, I see no reason why you couldn't have a bit of both...

My L201's all hang out in a natural stone cave with little crevices that they wedge themselves into since they're fairly flat. This is next to a grove of Jungle Vals (Vallisneria Americana) and they seem to be very happy there. I think that would be a good combination for you. The Vals draping over the top of a stone/wood setup.

That background is a good choice. These fish come from the upper Orinoco. The substrate is sand and the main structure is stones of various sizes (all rounded). There is some driftwood but no aquatic plants. It all depends how accurate of a biotope you are after.

I think their natural habitat has higher flow than you could reasonably get in a tank - but obviously with some more quiet spots too. However, a decent flow of 10x turnover rate should be enough to keep them happy. If you can make it about 20x, it wouldn't hurt.

I think if the flow were aimed at rocks and wood and such, you will naturally get some high flow and low flow eddies, which will allow the fish to choose which areas they want to hang out in.

Indeed how it works in nature - there are calm areas and "wild" areas. The fish picks areas that it "feels happy with". As long as there is decent flow in the tank, there will be some variation - even if there is no decorations at all. Obviously with some decorations, it gets even more variable. Which the fish will appreciate.

Very true. I found that the fish individually pick spots too (maybe partially due to dominance). I have 2 L128's which like to be inside a big natural cave all the time, one likes it on top of the cave on a ledge, one likes to be "sunning" himself in full current, which another ones like the least flow low flat cave on the other side of the tank.
