Might be getting some LDA74

HI all,

I might be getting some LDA74s in the near future; however, there's little information on them and they'll be coming in wild so I wanted to know if there are any individuals out there who have had experience with these ancistrus.

They'll most likely measure around 2.5-3" at $25/piece or 3"-4" at $30/piece. Is this price legitimate or am I going to be overpaying?

I currently have a pair of F1 L180s so should I be keep them in a similar environment/diet?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Price for fish is very variable - it depends on where you are getting them from, and many other things. $25 each for wild caught fish is about middle of the range.

I paid about $18 for my A. sp(L338) - and I thought that was a good price. But that's in the UK, which is not where you are... ;)

I just got a pair of these LDA074s. I will post pictures of them up later to see if they are what they were said to be. They're W/C from Venezuela.

Jeff has some nice fish currently. I had a hard time id'ing his fish.. I believe they might actually be something different than the LDA 74

That is true. I had Jackster ID them, too. When I got them home they did look like the LDA074 in the Cat-elog. They are really flat compared to my other BNs and stubbier. I'll have the pictures up in a bit.

Identifying Rineloricaria is very hard. There are far too many that look almost identical.

The Ancistrus pictures aren't great for ID purposes either, as the colour doesn't show very well in the picture. The body shape is a match, but there are a few others that have similar body shape...

I see. Thanks MatsP. I will let them settle in for a few days and than try taking a picture of them in the tank. Perhaps then the pictures will be more useful.

Here are some new pictures of the fish in their tank, but in a plastic breeder type container. It shows their color a bit better. Some spots are visible.
