Need help - Guppy has got black eyes all of a sudden!?

Post by Swiftrat »

Hi all.

I just checked on my fishtank and noticed my male guppy has suddenly got black eyes. Is this a bad thing? :(

I've seen the female guppy get black eyes before, but they returned to normal after a little while. I'm just wondering what these black eyes mean and what causes it? :?

40 minutes later and his eyes have returned to normal.

Hi there

Sorry I'm not much help but I have also noticed that all of my 4 female guppies eyes have all gone completely black. I'm really worried and I can't seem to find any information about it anywhere! They seem to be behaving normally maybe just a tiny bit slowed down. I think it could be stress - As i just added 2 gouramis, 2 bristlenoses and 4 balloon mollys to what was previously a guppy-only tank. They seem to have lost their place in the tank. I hope it is just stress and they will get over it soon. I will let you know if I find out anything.

I just got a reply on another forum - apparently it's completely normal for guppies and nothing at all to worry about!....Phew!
