I have kept Goeldiella eques in the past. It grows to about a foot in length. It will eat whatever can fit in it's mouth. I have not found them to be particularly aggressive.

One of my favorites. Kept one for 3 years until a move required me to let it go (give it away). Nice temperment, active in dawn/dusk frequently. Underappreciated cat.

This species is a tremendous medium size catfish with lots of character & can be quite active (at dawn/dusk as previously indicated) - if yours is not particularly, it might be feeling intimidated by it's tankmates. Generally it is fairly unfussy as to the water parameters

I did not find mine to be a fast grower.
This and Hemisorubim are the cats I most want to keep again, but I need a new, larger tank...

oh, and mine worked out a cave in the gravel under a slab of bog wood, perhaps some cover might help it relax and be more active...

Thanks for the info! I think it probably would like a hiding place, but until my next tank upgrade I dont have the room for the pike cichlid to become territorial. There are some rocks and plants, and it surprisingly doesnt wedge itself in there.
