¿Brochis or corydoras?

This fish is being sold as a Corydoras aeneus XL... but I see too many dorsal rays to be a corydoras. Is it a Brochis? As I know corydoras has 6-8 dorsal rays and brochis 10-12 except for B. multiradiatus (17?)

If it is a brochis, the coloration is not emerald green as in B. splendens, but I have heard about variations in colour, even depending on pH. Is this true?

you may want to go and look at the picture of Brochis britskii looks very close to me. also i must add that is a great picture.

Definately Brochis species not Corydoras.

These are my pair of Splendens if it helps.

That is definitely B. splendens, to judge by the coloration.

I thought in Brochis britskii because of the coloration (not green at all, is very similar in coloration to Corydoras aeneus), but I have read not all Brochis splendens are emerald green. Are there another diferences?

Is clear is it a Brochis, but, what do you think: britskii or splendens?

There are about 11 dorsal-fin rays in your fish, which would make it B. splendens ( B. britskii has 15-18 ).

If I am remembering what i had read up on B. splendens, they can have anywheres from a nice briliant emerald green to almost a brownish bronze coloration. mine seem to flip flop thru that color range. I am not sure if it has to do with there moods or what I am feeding them that causes the color changes. I got worried when I first noticed the color change due to have cories do that then die, but with haveing these for over 2 years I have gotten used to seeing it and think it is pretty interesting

Brochis cats seem to be a lot more vibrant when accustomed to softer acidic water conditions. What size is the fish you purchased?

I did not purchase the fish. I took the picture at the LFS. The size was aprox. 6-7 cms.

I can't be sure about pH, but tap water in Madrid (I'm sure is mantained in it, declorated) is very soft (KH=1ºd, GH=2-3ºd and slightly acidic).
