Algae wafers?

My albino cories (sold to me as bronze, but I'm thinking they may be another species, as they haven't grown beyond an inch long in almost three months) adore shrimp pellets and other sinking foods....but they totally demolish and devour the algae wafers I put in the tank for the bristlenose plecos.

In my other 20 gallon tank, my brochis cats and bronze cories eat the wafers as well, but the albinos will steal the food from the plecos!

Is this natural? Why are they eating so many greens?

The tanks are fed with flake, frozen, and sometimes lettuce or zucchini.

Most cory cats are not fussy feeders and relish worms in particular. They may just be attracted to the scent of the food. As for the variety yours maybe the Cory Paleatus kind. I am not sure if there are any albino variants in other forms. As a general these cats can reach 3inches max. Your tank may mot be big enough for them to grow anymore but fish can have growth spurts. Good luck.

Try to lodge the algae wafer in one of your plants. The other fish usually won't find it there, and your pleco will. If that doesn't work, try putting the pellet in when it is dark. If it's been dark long enough, the cories will probably be asleep when you put it in, so your pleco can eat it without interference.
