A hello and a question

Hi im Jude live in Belfast and just signed up recently. Been keeping fish for about 30 years but only began to concentrate on catfish about 8 years ago. Have always tried to keep up with things by reading books or checking magazines and then, finally, my wife convinced me to use the internet. I wasnt overly impressed until I discovered Planetcatfish. Never thought I would sit in front of a computer screen for hours on end.To everyone involved in setting up and running the site you do an amazing job and I can honestly say I now prefer the internet to my book (fishbooks) collection.Ive put a list of my cats in the my aquaria section under judeblackburn (not all fish are in the one tank, still new to this internet thing so just managed to include one setup) I will see about taking some photos of my fish and then get the wife to show me how to upload (or download ?) them. Just one question for now, are there any catfish groups in Northern Ireland or any members in or around Belfast.

Welcome Jude,
I agree that this is truely a great site, full of knowledge and wonderful ideas.
I have just taken a look at your list of cats and it's quite a list! I can't wait to see some pictures, especially of the L25!

Hi Jude, welcome to Planet Catfish.
I'm not aware of any catfish group in Northern Ireland (or any other part of the island you live on). There is the Catfish Study Group that meets in the north of England, near Manchester. The big event is the CSG Conference, which is around third week of March. There's good speakers from all over the world - last year there was a couple of American speakers, a German, an English and one Thai. And these people have experience well beyond what I know from spending far too many hours here for about five years (and no sign of giving that up).
I know there is a member in Dublin - I'm not saying that's the only "neighbour" of yours, but about 4000 members are spread all around this planet.

Might try to get over to that conference. Im originally from Dublin so will have to try and meet up with this "neighbour". Fed up trying to explain the habits of any new cats to my dog (wife gave up listening to me 20 years ago)

And the beauty of t' internet is that it's entirely possible to sit here in South of England and discuss catfish with someone in America one minute, in Sweden the next minute, and Northern Ireland a minute later. And that's just the three last posts.
Aside from meeting up with a few members of this forum that have met up a couple of times, and going to the CSG conference, I rarely meet people who care much about the finer details of catfish. Catfish nuts just aren't that common...
