Like I said in a previous thread, my little nephew cracked my 250 gallon, so I had no choice but to put him in my 55 gallon or let him die. I can't afford another tank right now and I can't keep him in the 55, he's not happy.

I tried embedding the youtube video, but idk why it's not working..

Make an offer, but don't lowball. He's 4 years old.

Being thousands of miles away, you wil lnot think I'm trying anything for myself. But finding someone who is willing to house such a monster alone will be quite an achievement

Don't expect much money, in fact, any money would be more than I would expect

I know what you're saying. Honestly, IDC how much I get, but as long as he gets into a large tank/pond with room to grow/swim, I'd be happy. I don't want to get rid of him at all, though. :(

Do you not have some sort of home-insurance or such that you could get the tank replaced on? Or are the insurance company saying that your nephew's insurance should cover it?

In which case I'd contact local Zoo's and public aquaria.

The number of people who can care for this type of fish for it's lifetime is very small (and a 250g tank is far from large enough for the ultimate size of this fish - more like several thousand gallons - you probably need about 10 x 20 x 8 ft pond - that's 1600 cuft or 12000 US gallons). So it's more likely that you can find a public aquarium than an individual that has the resources to care for a fish that will grow nearly three times the length of your fish that you have now.

250 used to look huge when I had a couple plecos and some Oscars in there, until I got him.

I contacted the zoo already, they said they can't help me. There are a few other places I'm looking into right now. Thanks for the help, guys. It's appreciated.

Theres too many retailers selling them and impulse buyers- hence the flood of many of those RTCs that managed to get to this size and still survived. People do get hit hard with the reality that their value is next to nothing-

Like others said not many can house a RTC at all. One thing that bothers me is people don't think about temp rubbermaid stock tubs. or even a swimming pool that only costs 5-9 dollars those plastic ones for the time being until a bigger home for it is found than a 55g tank which it can easily bust in no time.

For the time being what about that route- find some type of large tub/pool containers that you can put him in before you lose the tank Good luck finding him a home.
