So i purchased a "tiger pleco", got home introduced him to the tank, and got to thinking.. Was he/she really a tiger pleco? went through about 1000 pics on google image of various plecos and none of them looked at all like mine, the tigers i saw were all striped. My pleco is more spotted than striped, tho it does have stripes the fins, his body is all spots. Do the spots grow into stripes as he matures? Or maybe this is some hybrid? Or is it not a tiger pleco at all? I posted once before and was told it was most likely a l205 but all the pics of the 205s i saw are more gold/brownish than white/yellowish like mine. The only reason i even want to know is so that i can find some more of the same to put in so he's got some friends. If you need different pics just let me know and i'll do my best to get them, hes been hiding in one of the decorations since i put him in, so photo ops involve me tipping the decoration to snap the pic. Hopefully we can positively ID this guy so i can get more.

i would think it is a L205. Patterns and coloration vary considerbly within fish, but being over a blue substraight could also throw the colors off.

well, he looked the same inside the bag from my LFS also, yea i was wondering if the patterns varied from fish to fish, but to call it a tiger seems kinda wrong, tigers are striped, not spotted lol, but ok 2 ppl have told me l205 so thats what i'll go with, thanks much.

It is L205 to me.
I think the patterns may be varied from fish to fish. I've got 2 L205 and their patterns are a little bit different.
