Hi, my name is Alvin. Recently at my LFS I purchased a "tiger pleco". I wasn't so much concearned with it's actual breed as it looked cool and was compatibale in my tank. So after checking this guy..or girl out on the way home, and while he floated in the bag for about 20-30 mins, open of course, I got to thinking, was it really a tiger pleco? So I google imaged it, and finally ended up here. Can someone tell me if what breed this guy or girl is? If you need better pics just let me know, i have a pretty good camera.

Yes, probably L205. There are a couple of different species that look fairly similar, but it shouldn't make much difference to their care.

alright, well cool thanks. the reason i was asking is that the l205s i saw pics of didnt look quite as white as mine, more of a brownish color. thanks for the quick reply. also, are the spots going to change to stripes as he matures? as thats how most of the 205s i saw looked more striped than spotted?

I agree that it could be L205.

How big is it at the moment? Mature males have a very "spiky" body. Your fish looks a bit small to determine its sex. If it's bigger than it seems I'd say its a she.

he or she is about 3 1/2 inchs in length
