What can survive with...

We have an Electric Blue Ahli, we had a bristle nose in with him but he killed the poor guy. I was told that the bristle nose would be able to survive the ahli but apparently not. I'm wondering if there is any cleaning fish out there that can? I have a high fin that's 14" long that I'm half tempted to put in there and teach the Ahli a leason, she would swat him with her tail, but I won't do that to her. I just need someone that can clean the tank, his tank is very nasty with the red/brown alge. Any help would be great.

Thank you.

A common BN would be the best bet but it would need a cave or two to hide in - how big is the tank- is there just the ahli in there?

additonal on the red brown algae, do you maybe mean diatoms? is it a newly set up tank?

The tank set up is about 5 months old. He is alone in the tank, I am afraid to put anything else in the tank with him.

The tank is a 36 gallon. The BN had plenty of places to hide but when he came out to clean the tank, the Alhi would attack. Heck when I clean the tank, he comes after my hand. My wedding ring fell in the tank while cleaning, it stayed because I couldn't pick it up with the net until my husband got home.

We got him because the Oscar we had commited suicide and jumped out of the tank and died, he came up the opening where the filter is during the night.

What are diatoms? This is the brown algee that's on the tank wall, it's not the green stuff. We had the same thing and the bristle nose cleaned it within days.

Sorry I'm not up on everything, so I don't know all the things.

Pterygoplichthys, I have this in my 75 gallon tank because she out grew my 36 gallon tank, she couldn't turn around in the tank. So how do I buy one and keep it small enough to not outgrow the 36 gallon? Like I said my other one (I was told she's a high fin) is 14" long.

Sorry I'm asking so many questions.

a 36 gallon - that is some 120 liter tank - will be far too small for Pterogoblichthys. That is right. BUT such a tank will also be far too small for Ancistruskillers

Ahli - I mix up Malawi cichlids all the time - is an Utaka, which means bigger than Mbuna. A Mbuna tank should be 4 feet AT THE VERY LEAST, and a Utaka tank should be significantly bigger

So, in my eyes, that is your problem: you provide too little room for the cich lids.

fitting fish in this tank wil lresult in a tank Ancistrus can not only survive, but thrive in
