What'a wrong with my Sterbai?

does anyone know what this is above my sterbai's eye?
i noticed a white mark a day after a put him into my tank and originally i thought it was a small wound from a cichlid thinking he was food. but it has been over a week now and the white blemish looks like it has grown into something of a white mound. looks like it is firm and possibly puss? almost as if it is a small white snail attached to his head.. but definitely not that.
