Pseudacanthicus species from Peru

Hi :D
In August this summer I will go on a three week exspedition around the area of Iquitos, Peru with two crazy friends. We will of course catch a lot of catfish, but we will also purchase a lot of fish directly from Stingray (exporter).

I had really no idea there are Pseudacanthicus species in Peru, but after some googling I found the Pseudacanthicus sp(4). It looks rather nice, and I will bring some with me if they are available. Are there any other species of Pseudacanthicus in Peru? I also wonder from what area the Pseudacanthicus sp(4) is collected from.

Another trip?!!! *envy*
Do send my regards to Jørn.
I sent him an email and I think it dropped into a black hole... hehe

Have you seen the fish posted in L-Welse? ---> here

It's also from Peru and don't think it's the same as L452.
The spotting seems more like wormlines and colour is more intense.
And accordingly to Sandor, the white spots are pretty uniform on the juvenile specimens.

PS - I hope the information is not too late for your trip.

Hi,

there´s gonna be some additional information in the eLog in due course.

Meanwhile you can (all those capable of reading German, that is) find my contribution here at DATZ. Should be publically available.

As to the known distribution: the fishes now given the L-Number L 452 were collected some 200 km from Iquitos, upriver in a tributary of Rio Ucayali (that is also provided in the above article).

Cheers, Sandor
