Breeding of ALL cories is pretty much the same:
  • Good quality water.
  • Good quality food.
  • Drop in temperature.
  • Make sure there is something the fish can hide eggs in so that it and others can't find them.
There are a couple of articles that go into more details - have a look at Shane's World, particularly "So you want to breed Corydoras" by Ian Fuller, but that's the "headlines" version.

lower the temp to what? I have plenty of hiding places so that isn't a problem.

To whatever the current temperature minus aorund 2-4'C (4-9'F or so). Try a smaller drop first - give it a few goes before you make it a bigger drop.

It's not so much hiding spaces as places to place eggs so that the fish can't find them again - spawning mops are a popular solution.

Live or frozen foods of small size (blood worms, daphnia, cyclops etc).

Note: I'm no great expert on cory spawnings, I have only bred two of my 4 species of Corydoras so far.

Corydoras adolphi are easier to spawn if you use very soft water and a pH of about 6.0.
Live worms, all they can eat are their best conditioning food. Live foods are best because they are less likely to cause bacterial blooms which can be harmful to the eggs and newly hatched larvae.
I recommend setting up their spawning tank with a thin layer of fine sand. Less than 1/4 inch of sand is plenty.
Be sure to acclimate your prospective breeders to soft acid water gradually.
C. adolphi like warm water, 80-82*F. To stimulate breeding you simulate heavy rain fall. I use RO water cool enough to temporarily drop the temperature about 8 to 10*F and then allowing it to warm back up.
This cycle may have to be repeated several times. A lot depends on how ready the Corydoras are to spawn in the first place.

Hi,

I have got a breeding group op wildcaught C. Adolfoi. They are just comming back to breeding after a winterstop.
I find them hard to breed but saying that, if the conditions are right they will spawn frequently. Last year they spawned at avarage every other day, only 5-10 eggs. That went great!
But after moving them to my new accomodation they stopt completly....even got sick and some died :( Then the winterstop. But now I have seen them spawning again and soon I will start collecting the eggs again to raise the fry.
Water conditions are very important. They like soft water, PH 6 and are very sentitive to nitrate (but that could be because mine are wildcaught). They won't do well, the eggs will die and no larvae will grow. I find larvae are slow growing compared to C. Sterbai or other species I have bred.
Some parameters if you like, these are my conditions: PH 6, KH 2, NO2 0, NO3<10 temp 28. I make 40% waterchanges every other day to get them going, cold water. I also use some RO water.

Hope you can use some of my information with your own attempt to breed C. Adolfoi. I find them very pretty fish

Mine are wild caught too. I moved here a year ago and even though I never tested my water, I know it's not very soft. I need to check it soon. Well we will see what happens and maybe I will get lucky haha.

I have had no problem getting my Corydoras Adolphi to spawn. My problem is getting the eggs to hatch before fungusing.
I have five fry that have hatched from four different spawnings. They are doing fine, eating well and growing.
Water is on the hard side. Ph is 6.4. Temperature is 76-78 Have an air stone for circulation for the eggs. I have tried useing Anti Fungus Med. Also tried with out. They still fungus. They eggs are fertile

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

To keep the eggs from fungus, you can try to add a catappa leaf. The tip i got at my local LFS lately was to add Alder Cones. The person showed me even Ian Fuller seems to like to use them. This worked great for my last group of 94 C. Panda eggs. Although only 45 developed to small fish, the others stayed white, but showed no fungus.
