Science News: Loricariidae - Neblinichthys roraima

Post by Silurus »

Synopsis by Shane Linder

Neblinichthys roraima is described from specimens collected at the base of Monte Roraima in southeast Bolivar State, Venezuela. This is part of the Rio Caroni system. Like N. pilosus, N. roraima has hypertrophied odontodes which stick straight out from the rostrum. This fish is found in two quebradas that drain from the Roraima Tepuy. These creeks are very small and shallow with fast flowing water.
