What kind of Tandan is this?

I swapped these guys when they could fit in a fish bowl
I swapped some young Bettas for them at a LFS
I was told that they could go in with Gold fish in a cold water Bowl(large) and that was it.
I like to know what I own so I started to look into them
They sell these poor guys to people that want small fish.
I have grown very attach, to my fast growing guys
I would Like to know if they are
Tandanus tandanus or one of the other Tandans we get in Austraila.
I am looking at a pair of fish that can get 1m long and wiegh up to 7kg each,
thats more than one of my small dogs.

Tandanus tandanus is also known as "Kenaru" or in Germany as "Tauwels".
You could ask zoos if they could keep this fish, because there would be definetly no private keeper for them (but I like them, too).
Or do you have an aquarium or a pool, that is big enough for the Kenarus???

I have already started to save and look around at the next tank for them.
I don't know if an Ozzie Zoo would be to interested in them.
I could contact a Wild life sanctuary latter down the track.
I live within the natural range of the
Tandanus tandanus
and have read that some Ozzie's have let the go in dams
I talked to my Mother today about letting the go in her dam
when the time comes.
That could be 10 years down the road if I am lucky

releasing a native fish back into the wild isn't neccessarily the right thing to do - if it has come into contact with any other fish it could transport latent infections to other bodies of water - a suitable captive environment is by far the best bet.

I had not thought about some exotic problem being introduced into the native water stream.
All the Dams on my parents home run into a lovely seasonal creek and I think the water way has enough
problem with farm chemical run off and drought as it is.
I dint plan to get rid of these guys for a long long time but what do people do?
The LFS always have them for sale all the time, so I imagine a lot get dumped
I could end up with a small swimming pool for the I would have to buy water in to fill .
We are still in a drought

Isnt there a sea life, marine world or something like this, who is interested in this guys? Just contact them.

Just contact them.
That is one of the problems with this...there is too many people that think they will just donate to a large aquarium somewhere, but these aquariums can only take so many large fish or it may not fit in with their current setups.

Yes, thats right. But you have nothing to loose. Perhaps you have luck.
If not you can think about the swimming pool.
