hi all! something is happening to my Panaque as it is changing color? I though it was bacteria so I made two treatments but nothing happened. did anyone see something like this before? it was a normal gray fish two weeks ago...

There's no picture displaying - did you post it up on photobucket or some other account?
Am sure someone can help with a picture, and knowing which panaque you are talking about.

hi! regular gray - dark gray stripes. like this one

Can you check if pigmentation is like white circle with a very small black spot in the center?

Does this color look like that caused by the reaction to skin parasites that cause "Gold Tetras" Hemigrammus armstrongi or Hyphessobrycon bifasciatus, to become gold to anyone else? That is what came to my mind. I have never seen this occur outside of the Characin group before but it is not a phenomenon that is well understood in the first place. Among the Characins it seems to be a fairly benign problem as the affected fish continue to thrive.

Somebody else's royal did that when placed into a new tank. It went from normal to almost albino-looking. Stayed healthy, though.

I can't believe I am writing this but today he is looking like a Papa. My first posts here and you will think I am insane... I must take photos...

That's how we all learn mate(at least at first). Good luck with the fish try a parasite remedy as that is probably the cause. Rohan R
