Synopsis by Shane Linder

In a recent revision of the genus Anaspidoglanis, J.D. Mbega and G. G. Teugels have shown that two distinct groups can be identified in the genus Anaspidoglanis. One group is made up of Anaspidoglanis boutchangai and the second grouping consists of A. macrostoma. The authors place A. ansorgii as a junior synonym of A. macrostoma. Anaspidoglanis macrostoma is better known to aquarists as Parauchenoglanis macrostoma, the dwarf giraffe catfish. A complete redescription of Anaspidoglanis macrostoma is given in the paper.
