Good evening all,

Yesterday i bought 8 pleco's in holland. They where sold as L270, But I have my doubts what is the real number. On the dutch fora they can's seem to agree on what kind of pleco this is. These are the most used names:

L066
L129
L270
L333

Hope to find out what pleco it really is. The pics are taken while they where stressed, so i hope its possible to identify.

Greetz,

Johan X

I'd say L270 is correct.

I think they are L129 ,
Look the most likely and are definatley the most available .
Also they look quite small fish ?
And they look mature .

Neil,

You may be right on the L129. I'm not so sure they are small though. If you look at the "from top" pictures, the fish laying on the bottom of the photo tank is showing signs of being a male with the odontodes on the back of the body.

First thing I thought of was the L129. The L270's barring seems to be much wider (in the specimens I have seen) I would go with the L129

I've L270 and L333 and the markings could be of either species however the bodily odontonodal growth makes me think that this is a different species so i'd have to say L129 or other. I hope that helps at least a little.
