Science News: Callichthyidae - Corydoras pantanalensis

In "Aquaristik Aktuell". the magazine of the German aquarium clubs, Joachim Knaak has published a new Corydoras description. The new species is named Corydoras pantanalensis and is found in the Pantanal area of Bolivia. This is the Corydoras known as C5. The type locality is Bolivia, Santa Cruz, rest water in the norther Pantanal. Overflow area in the area of San Lorenzo, Rio Cussis and Rio Petas drainage. 16° 06' 52.5" S, 59° 55' 62.0" W.

Knaack collected and has already bred the fish, in the article he shows fry which are brownish mottled (15 mm length). The fish with the net pattern are males, the ones without non-mating males or females. He says the fish are easy to breed. Additionally he compares them with C. geryi (also easy to breed).
