Synopsis by Shane Linder
Tan and Ng have described a new member of the dwarf bagrid genus Nanobagrus. The holotype measures 23 mm standard length (SL) and the paratypes 23.2 to 33.6 mm. This attractive little fish is an overall dark brown with a series of light spots along the flanks. The specific name, stellatus, means starred or spotted and is a reference to the pattern of cream-colored spots on the body. The good news is that the authors note that their specimen was obtained from aquarium collectors. We can only hope that this means this catfish will be imported soon for the hobby.
