I have a Clown Pleco(Panaque maccus)
http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... ies_id=734. I think it may be a female as it isn't 'hairy' on its back. However it is only 2 inches long , is this too young to sex?

It seems a bit small to sex, yes. Males at about 2.5-3" will have "hairy backs" (the body just forward of the tail-fin gets "stubble" - like some male adult human who hasn't shaved for a day or three).

That's a new one on me. Anyone else with experience in these fish that can say if this is a reliable way of determining sex of these fish?
