Science news: Akysidae - New akysids & sisorids

Post by Silurus »

Synopsis by Shane Linder

In this paper Ng and Kottelat describe the new akysid Akysis inermis from the Xe Banghiang and Xe Kong basins in Laos where it is found in clear streams in riffles among boulders. Bagarius rutilus is also described from the Red River basin in Northern Vietnam and Laos as well as Pareuchiloglanis nebulifer from the Nam Ma basin in northeastern Laos. There are very nice colour photographs of all three fish in the paper.
