Hi Andrew,

how does the dorsal fin look like ?!
With L 16 (and other Oligancistrus) it should be big like a sail and connected to the small adipose fin.

By the way I'm doubting that the second pic of L 16 in the Cat-eLog really shows a L 16. The dorsal fin is too low and the connection to the adipose fin is not pronounced enough.

Cheers,

Definitely something from that group. I would say, just as a quick guess, spectra murinus, but mouth shots would help.

has small spots, just like the original posters picture (although the fish in the above picture appears to be partly stress-colouration)

In comparisonm S. sp(L254) has much larger spots:

Hi!

I doubt it is Spectracanthicus murinus as these have a white seam on the dorsal and caudal fin which look totally absent on this speciemen!!

I much likely to think this is indeed ...which look a lot more like yours

By the way the first fish picture on the L315 page is S. murinus
