Hoover the Blue-eyed Panaque cochliodon RIP

For those who are fans of Susan Aufieri's "pet" Hoover, the Blue-eyed: Hoover succumbed to a cold snap in the U.S. Northeast when an ice storm wiped out electricity in the area for days, leaving the house temperature at 42 degrees and tank heaters useless. Many other fish in the Aufieri collection did not make it through the outage.
The plec came to Susan in 1995 at an aquarium club auction, but his age was unknown. He was known for stupid pet tricks and considered part of the family.

Susan is not a member of the forum and asked me to post this. I am totally bummed.

It truly is, "hoovie" was entwined in the early days of the site. I got an email from Susan about it and I have yet to reply as was composing my thoughts. Having recently lost two "special" plecos that I brought home from Venezuela as young juveniles and grew to nearly foot long adults, I know the feeling of not having them around.

I feel Susan's sadness. I have a Blue-Eyed Panaque cochliodon that I have owned since 1993, his name is Henry, I would be lost without him. Please tell Susan I'm sorry for her loss

Makes me giggle that your fish is called Henry, and the one that died was called Hoover.
Sorry to make a joke out of a somber moment, but "Hoover" and "Henry" are "related" here in the UK, as "Hoover" is the common name for a vacuum cleaner, and "Henry" is a model name used by vacuum cleaner manufacturer Numatic - they found that customers were not very good at figuring out if they had model 1234 or 3412 when buying replacement bags, spare parts, etc, so calling their models, Henry and such like made it much easier to remember.
