Lemon Drop Ancistrus
Hello all
Today I bought a "Lemon Drop Ancistrus" for my planted 29 gallon.
It's maybe an inch long, and once it gets in the tank and is visible, I'll try and get some pics of it.
But in the mean time, I've been trying to find some pictures of it online to see what it'll look like when it gets older, and, I can't find a THING. Nothing, nowhere. It's not even on the cat-e-log...lol
Anyways, the guy that sold it to me says that it's a cross between a calico and an albino ancistrus, but I thought that theose were all genetics, and that if you cross the two, you would get either calicos or albinos, not a color varient. The lemon drop looked exactly like the calico. It is darkish brown with some spots on it and the tips of it's tail are yellowish in color.
Does anyone have any information on it? Or even pictures? Any help would be great.
It's going in my 29 gallon that is barely planted (in the process of re-doing it) but right now there is a pretty big piece of drift wood, and plans are to add more.
Currently, there is a clown pleco, 12 rummy nose tetras, 7 green fire tetras, and 5 glowlight danios, 5 C. habrosus, and 5 ottos. Future plans for it will have a final stocking of the rummies, some angel fish, the cories, ottos, and the 2 plecos.
Thanks for any help!
Andrew

No, lemondrops (at least the ones in MI I've seen) are a calico x albino cross. They look like a standard brown to me, which would make sense sicne they're the product of two different recessive gene sets. If you cross them, you should get some browns, some albinos, some calicos. They aren't anything special, otherwise.
