I will post a picture here of this fish as soon as possible.
The closest match appears to be that of Hypostomus L290
but this is only based on the pictures that I've seen of that cat.
The pattern is the same as in the cat e log pic from the head to the front edge of the dorsal fin, after that, it differs from the picture and looks more like scales.
It is aprox 300 mm in length (12 inches).

If it is in fact a L290 I would also appreciate any available information on it as there is none in the database here.

Hi!

Rob if it is the real L290, you better have a big tank as they grow over 60cm/24in...
So far I never encoutered one on any stock list or shop...
You shall check,HH proposition, as Liposarcus ambrosetti is more common...

From theses pictures it does not appear to be either of the two.

The head area has the same patterns but the rest of the body patterning, to me, looks different.

I have acquired a digital camera and will be posting a picture of it later tonight.
