I stumbled upon this Singaporean forum page this evening and figured it may be of interest. The linked page shows pictures of a L25 pair that were successfully spawned in a Japanese fishkeepers aquarium I believe earlier this year, what seems most astonishing about this is that the spawning took place between two 24cm fish in a 2ft aquarium!

Probably like many other plecos you just need a pair, and a good pair. And then they are not so hard to breed.

I would expect, however, that that small a tank would require a huge amount of water changes...

Really found sad...housing such fish in such small tank...
They are like in Sardines' can.
I shall not encourage anyone to try this.
As a hobbist we are supposed to give the best home for our fish...obviously housing 2 25cm fish in a 60liter tank wouldn't be what I call the best..but certainly the worst that can be given.
And I wouldn't use the fact that they bred meant that they are happy with the situation.
Breeding can also be explain as a survival instinct when conditions deteriorate...
There is no ethic in that breeding...even the most successful it can be...

I meet Mr. Seidel some weekends ago, and he showed the pictures. I could not believe it. I also believe it is important not to encourage anybody to try the same. It is probely a lucy.

Well said, I would have to agree with you totally on that!

I was sure to read about a L25 breeding soon, but I did'nt want to see it like that. I hoped for much more... rather like the L114 and L600 article.

The only good thing with this is that L25 is quite possible to breed.

I've seen horrible example of catfish keeping on youtube from "some geografic areas" that keeps all to many nice plecos in a overful tank.

I totally agree with you Yann, the tank is definitely too small (even if it's 60 cm and not 60 liters )... and it's probably a breeding due to stressing conditions... but anyway, the point is that L25 has been bred... and that's a good point...

Now, people like Harvaard, like me and some others just have to try it in a "decent sized tank"... and believe me, I will try hard

I want to believe that the main problem is to find mature individuals and a good sex ratio... and eventually a good sized tank, too...

I agree totally, I'm amazed anybody would try and keep a pair in a 60 litre tank, it's clearly far too small. My first though also was this could be stress reaction breeding. Still an interesting piece of info, if certainly not an example to follow.
