I think it is

The Baensch Atlas shows Squaliforma emarginata as being found in the Rio San Alejandro-Central Ucayali Drainage-Peru

Thank you Birger, but i think this is different fish, because i know those plecos coming from Tingo Maria and Ucayali, this one is different when they are young are wider than the one of your pic.

Hi,

you would not happen to have a decent picture of the mouth? That would certainly pinpoint if it´s an Aphanotorulus, Squaliforma or Hypostomus of some sort.

How big is it right now?

Cheers, Sandor

That's a Hypostomus, it's too short in the back half of the body and has equally sized caudal fin lobes and so isn't a Squaliforma. The fish has too high a body to be Squaliforma or Aphanotorulus. My opinion only, but this is based on keeping all these fishes and so I think it is something new.

So, Hypostomus sp. Tingo Maria for now?

May I use the picture - if so, can you email it to me?
