Orange Spot Bristlenose Male or Female?

Post by Jamako »

Hi,

Hi all,

I have four of these guys, one is a guaranteed female, it has very small and short bristles around its mouth. The other three all look similar to this one. I think they are males. I just want a second or third opinion. This is a photo of one of them. Its about 8-9cm at the moment.

Thanks

Hard to tell from that angle. A belly/back shot to show the shape of the mid-riff of the fish would be much better - females are more "rounded" at the region towards the ventral.

It looks like this fish has a small fork of bristles halfway up its snout, this would suggest a male.
