Somehow I got roped into helping redo the Loricariidae section of wiki. I can't do this myself as I have limited experince with both wiki and plecos. So I thought you guys could help. Just check out this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Loricariidae and click on any links that intrest you (or all if you like). Then check this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: ... _guideline if you know of any reputable sources or have info from a source add those. If you think the page is just bad and could be done away with post it on the discussion page here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Pleco ... Loricariid

This might take a while... but do we really need pages like this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plecostomus especilly with pages like this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypostomus_plecostomus

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plecostomus and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypostomus_plecostomus
are actually showing [or P. disjunctivus, as those are VERY difficult to separate - only the belly pattern is an external identification key].

I don't know enough about plecos, but I sometimes edit Wikipedia for writing style, spelling and grammar. I could do that if required.

Just bumping this post, it seems to have slipped down with no replies.

I edit wikipedia from time to time, but I've kind of stayed away from that article since it's rather messy. IMO it needs to be redone. I do believe it is necessary to have an article that defines what a "pleco" is, perhaps some of the history of the term and to clearly describe that "pleco" is a general term. It is not necessary for the article to have any details on specific species, however, which should of course be discussed on the more relevant pages.
