Sturisoma nigrirostrum vs tenuirostre

Post by Charly EON »

Hello
I received fishes labelled S. tenuirostre but the underneath part of the short snout is black like for S. nigrirostrum. How can I tell apart these 2 species without douibts ?

Thanks in adavanc for those who will give enlightening answers

S. tenuirostre is from Rio Meta and is exported from Colombia, S. nigrirostrum is from Rio Ucuyali and exported from Peru. The last species is exported normaly in large sizes around 18-20 cm SL and the first species is a small specie not larger then 15 cm SL, S. tenuirostre have a lower more flat body compared to the larger S. nigrirostrum that are more massive.
