New babies

Post by SOBERKITTY »

Hey guys! Haven't been on in a while. Been looking for a job. Went out of town for about four days 3 weeks ago and came back to about 20 or so babies. Tanichthys albonubes or white cloud mountain minnows. They live in very cold water so I figured a fish bowl as a nursery would be good. Found a sponge filter and transfered them the next morning after setting everything up the night before. I'll post pictures in a moment. They are about 3 wks old now and growing fast. I have been feeding them powdered freeze dried blood worm. I figured you can't go wrong on high protein and it was easier to powder then the flake food.

Great news, and looking forward to seeing the pics- I love baby fish.

I'm on a high at the moment because I've finally found a shop willing to take my baby Geophagus iporangensis and some bristlenose off me- I was fearing the worst with the cichlids as I wasn't expecting to be able to get rid of them.

Well, Soberkitty baby white clouds go through a stage where they resemble neon tetras which is probably about where yours are at. Too bad they don't keep those colors.
Ignoring white clouds is one of the best ways to breed them.

Okay guys I can not upload any pictures from my computer. I've tried several times and all it does is go to a blank screen when I hit the add file button. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? :(

apologies to Soberkitty for partially hijacking the thread...

Hey Richard-
they breed easier than convicts- all you need to add is water and food. They come in at £25-£30 for a wild-caught pair (or at least the parents of my f1s did, from Wharf Aquatics), and it only takes one pair, and maybe a few of their progeny, to flood the market for a substantial number of LFS covering quite a bit of the country. Just as about 6 members in my local aquarist society had bristlenose fry at the same time, about 4 of us had iporangensis fry simultaneously.

I've got another hiding to nothing now because I'm currently raising some of the fry my Tilapia mariae produced in the community tank...

I've never tried directly uploading them to the site- I use a file hosting site (photobucket, but imageshack and several others do the same thing) to upload the pictures to, and then link from there to the site.

No apoligy neccesary Carp37. I used to be able to uplaod them directly from my computer. I never had to use a hosting site before. But this is my first thread in almost 3 months. Have things changed? :?

Well then guys it is just something my computer is rebelling at doing. Must be going through puberty. I think I rebelled at everything when I went through mine. I'll try again soon. But they are exactly at that stage where they look like little ity bitty neons! And boy are they hungry. Like all the time! By the way Matsp nice drill bits!

[Mod edit: Reference to drill-bits no longer valid, as I removed that post -- Mats]
