Lionfish-patterned catfish?

My apologies for the poor picture quality. We purchased this guy from the local mega-supermarket, they charged us for a p. angellicus but this looks nothing like that, at least not the pictures I've seen. I haven't been able to find anything with his pattern in the Cat-e-log, I've not even been able to match him up to a family. It is approximately three inches / seven to eight centimeters from nose to tail.

Hi

Looks like Synodontis to me, feather fin cat.

The photo is a little dark but it looks like S. eupterus.

I think P Angelicus is for the Angelicus Pleco or http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... cies_id=10 , the guys at this grocery chain in the pet department are extremely clueless about the fish they sell and half the time you don't even get someone from the pet department to help you (the poster from Ypsi will recognize the name of the chain, Meijer).

Thanks for the id! It is disappointing to learn that my cat will lose his coloration that I was so fond of. Oh well, caveat emptor.

they may lose some of it but they are even more beautiful when they grow up!

mine have deep charcoal gray bodies and still swirly back fins and their top fin is beautiful.
