There are two other CW-number which are also close, CW014 and CW023. There are quite a number of so called "laser Corys", which may all be scientifically proven to be just colour/regional variations of one species, possibly C. aeneus or even C. melanotaenia, but until extensive scientific work is undertaken it is impossible to be certain.
Having said that I have bred true C. aeneus (Trinidad), CW010 (Gold laser) and CW023 (Orange laser), and all three show unique fry colour patterns, which to me adds fuel to my view that they are distinct species.
