Hi, hope all of you have been well. I have been working on a new tank, it's a 20 long and will replace my 10 gallon. My corydoras, hara jerdonis, axelrodi rasboras, kuhli loaches, and shrimp will be in here as soon as it's done cycling. :)

I'm liking the look of that set-up a lot - very nice indeed

Looks really nice well done, I'm sure the fish will love the extra 10gallons to swim around in :)

Just wait for the plants to fluorish and it will look even better.

The inside looks quite nice. However, it is a pity you did not do anything about the bare windows. Put some black paper against them, and the tank will look twice as nice

Agreed. Such a nice tank deserves a background and it'll also make your fish more at ease.

Thank you all for your compliments and suggestions. I know about the background, should have painted it with black but I chickened out. Any ideas on something that would work? I can buy it today. I just don't want to use those cheesy backgrounds.

If you're not brave (or daft) enough to attempt painting it in-situ with a radiator brush, then heavy black card from any good stationers will work well - just try not to get it wet too often.

Look forward to seeing your "my aquaria" entry set-up for this nice tank too! ;-)

Almost all my tanks (30) are painted on 3 sides. The first one was too bright, the rest are black - just black

One I painted in situ, but I was unable to reach the back. Thus I took some thin plywood and painted this instead. This is, in my eyes, a second best option, but as good as dark (preferably black) paper

Ok..thanks guys, you pushed me to get a background today. I went to Office Depot and picked up something called a foam presentation board, it's flat black. It just has to be cut. Any good ideas on attaching it?

Is it for inside the tank, or outside the tank?

It's for the outside. It worked perfectly and fits snug back there just like it is without really attaching it at all. The equipment kind of holds it too. Very cool..will get pics tomorrow. My NO3 was up from the last three days, 10,20, and today 40 ppm. So we are on our way to the end of the cycle! This is day 21. I will probably give it another week or more.
