Re: Pics of L100
Nice looking Ancistrus. I am trying to collect a few like that or L183 and L184 so I have a pretty Ancistrus species or two to breed.

Re: Pics of L100
This is my first atempt at breeding pleco's, so any advise is welcome. As well if anyone could let me know the proper dimensions for a breeding cave that would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Pics of L100
I have a trio that look very much like the fish in your second photo.
They have spawned several times in my fairly standard ancistrus breeding set up.
18x18x9 tank (Actually a 36x18x9 divided in half) part of a rack of approx 400 litres
Caves are bamboo with one end blocked off with a stone siliconed over the end, they are approx 40mm across, length dosnt seem to matter as long as the male fits in.
Circulation from an Eheim Aquaball pointed at the cave entrances.
Temp 24 Celcius , PH 6.8 Dh 3.0 NO3 approx 5ppm
Daily automated water changes on the rack of around 10%
I have noticed the eggs are much yellower than ancis sp3.
My male took around 4 spawns to get the hang of things and not force the eggs out of the cave with his vigorous fanning. Now he gets each spwan through to free swimming stage at which time I piss him off by removeing them to a rearing tank before they find their way into the overflow and end up spread around the entire rack.
The adults and young are fed on JBL Pleco Tabs, Courgette and spirulina jello.
My male Tamboensis in his cave with young to give you an idea of size caves I use.
and one of my fish... looks very like your second photo

Re: Pics of L100
Yes I got them from Oliver, they were supposed to be L059, but thats another story. They are a nice looking little pleco and I'm very happy with them.CanadaPleco wrote:Did you get yours from Oliver? I just ordered a group of 6 of them as well. They look great. Cant' wait to get mine.
Fuglydragon thanks for the info, I made a few slate caves but I think I made them a bit too wide, back to the shop I go to make a few smaller ones.
