Hi!
I have purchased year ago three L-5 plecos. biggest, assumed to be mele is TL 9 cm, smaller ones assumed being female being TL 4 cm and 7 cm. I ordered one male and two female, and looking pectoral fins these might be the facts, if you can say so. I supposed they are capable to breed.
At one shop I saw full-grown male, sold as L-28. Is the species different from L-5 except what comes to distribution: L-5 being from Rio Tocantins at Cametá and L-28 from Guamá by Ourem.
My plan was breed these three fishes, but if things don't get more forward, I thought, if one extra male would make difference, competing etc. Any comments? Will the value of the fry sank, if parents are L-5 AND L-28 or is it a positive aspect? As being from different river, crossing over genes might make fry very healthy? Please, clever comments very appreciated.
Synodontis are my strongest part on the hobby, plecos are still quite mysteries to me.

Re: L-5 breeding L-28?
Hi!!
L5 and L28 are one and same species...they are just geographical variation.
Because of this I would not try to breed them together...
I think it is very important to keep geographical variation as "clean" as possible...just like what it is done with Cichlids...
Cheers
