alright, I am quite attached to this one. Do you think he is a bristlenose? (crossing fingers)

I am only concerned cause I don't see him with any spots. He has some bristles barely on his face. But I just can't find a pic to match him. I purchased him as a bristlenose/bushynose.

He just doesn't look like any pics I can find of what he is suppossed to be.

I never see him eat. I offer him everything. Broccolli stems, green beans, romaine lettuce, algae wafers, shrimp pellets, Zuchinni.

It's belly seems to be okay...put the food in the same place every day and it will quickly learn where it is.
Give it some time to settle in.

Stress colouration isn't quite the same as "stressed out" - it is "camouflage mode" - and although a settled fish will not show stress colouration, it's not a terribly bad thing - just not settled in yet - it may take a week or two.

The foods you offer sounds good, so patience and keeping the water conditions good is all you should need now.

also when I read about them it says some places to feed them meat (bloodworms etc) once a week?

Can I just ask you all what you feed your BN's? I am just confused how much meat he needs.

I tend to feed a mixture of algae wafers, courgette and beans. Although lately it's been mostly algae wafers. They are quite "meaty", compared to for example courgette (which has about 1% protein in it).

so far tonight he has made a small dent in a honeydew melon piece and some broccolli stalks. But mostly he is sucking on the rocks and driftwood. He is more active tonight.

It's fairly common that newly moved fish are less active and feed less than those that are established, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Mr or Mrs Bushynose is more active and colourful. Last night late I caught him on the filter intake tube eating away. So of course I was scared he would climb out so I watched for quite awhile. He would go all the way around and up and down and up so far his nose came out and then back down.

I know my camara isn't the best. And the pics aren't close up enough, but any luck on telling me if I have a boy or girl? Might be too young yet. I would like to get him or her a partner? Or maybe another girl if it's a girl? Girls get along right? My camara does let you enlarge and zoom on the already taken pic in the view finder but I cannot figure out how to save it big. And every time I try and zoom on the actual pic it focuses on the glass it seems or isn't as clear. I just can't see many if any bristles so I was thinking a girl but maybe it is too young for bristles at all. Sometimes if he is on the glass maybe you can see small stubbles around the mouth.

I know the deco he likes is tacky but it was very algaefied and he really likes them. Everything else in there is driftwood or rocks.

Oh and I have checked this http://www.planetcatfish.com/faq/index.php?qid=117and still can't tell. Little tiny bristles around the mouth I see when she is on the glass. Maybe he she is too young.

I know it's mother's day and all and the weekend...but a new shipment comes in on Monday at the fish store and I really wanna know what sex mine is and if he needs a boy or a girl mate. Or buddy, you know.

In my experience, it's rather rare to see "bearded" ladies. Particularly if they are small, and your fish looks about 2" or so long - I'd put 5c (but no more than that) on it being male.

He's so pretty! Very nice and healthy looking. I tried to have 2 BNs in my 20 gallon tank and that didn't work out very well since the bigger would chase the smaller one a lot, so I had to move the small one out.

If your tank is large enough and you get another of similar size they should be okay I think!:)

I got a glimpse of his belly last night, no worries, he is eating something. Now to see about getting him a friend. Well he has 4 otos but they are a bit hyper for him.

Just to point out that whilst one Bristlenoses is OK with another Bristlenose, they are not really social creatures - certainly not like Oto's or Cory's that feel completely out of place when on their own - Having one in a tank is just fine. Of course, if you want to breed them, then you need more than one.

No. I do not particularily want to breed them I do not think, they have many many babies and I have no idea what I would do with them.

If he won't be lonely I will leave him be as is. Thank you.
