Please allow me to introduce myself...

Post by Leucosticta »

hello everybody...

I've just made my account but i wrote a topic before my introduction...
I'm from Italy and I've always based on this website when I was looking for infos about catfishes...
In Italy we have a pretty bad culture about them, and the choice in italian shops is really bad... even if it's getting better!
I am sure I'll find here a good database oh informations!!

My catfishes are a couple of L174, 3 Lda16 with fry, L144 (juveniles), L262 (i had a couple but the female died because of the injuries caused by his male...she was to lay eggs :x ), L066, L129 (?), a Sturisoma panamense, Otocinclus cocama, some Corydoras arcuatus and a little colony of Corydoras habrosus with a lot of fry.

Welcome to PlanetCatfih.

and nice to see another S. leucosticta keeper - have you had any success breeding them? Mine are attempting, but the famale seems to loose interest after a few days and eat the fry/eggs.

I haven't taken them out of the tank to measure properly, but around 20 cm total length for the larger ones, the female about 5 cm smaller ( bought 7 to begin with, but only 4 survived the first few weeks for some reason, and then got one more as a "rescue" from a local shop - it had a deformed mouth, quite likely an injury from early life, but not quite sure. This last one turns out to be the only female).

There is a photo of my tank in the link in my signature - the most recent one shows the fish quite well.

Beautiful tank and fishes... i love them they're so gorgeous... my bigger one could be 14 cm and the others a little less.. I think they still have to grow before being able to lay eggs

I can't tell, really, because mine were pretty much that size, except for the female that I added sometime last year.
