Wow That is a very beautiful fish! What do you feed them guys when they get that big? I dont supose that regular comercial fish food would suffice anymore. Also very large pretty pleco in there as well. Do you have another link to pics of the others it is not working for me. I would like to get a better look at the others as well.

The other catfihs you can see are clarius and a marbled catfish either leirius marmoratus or perrunichthys perurno depending on who you beleive.

I will take some more pics when i have some time.

How was it's mouth deformed?

Mine has a very slightly upturned mouth which it got when it was very young from crashing into the walls of the tank when scared. I don't think that tank size has anything to do with TSN and other similar ctafish hurting themselves in this way. My TSN was 7" in a 8x2 when it did this, so it had plenty of room.

upturned mouth

Post by Julie »

We imported 10 tigrinnus last year, and one of them came in with a smashed, upturned mouth, obviously from impacting on the walls of the box. We were heartbroken for the fish, it looked pretty painful, as the upper jaw was totally pointing straight up

We tried a few minor things to get it to snap down, but couldn't get this very active skittish fish to settle enough to work on him/her. Finally we decided to let nature take it's course. We weren't sure that it would be able to eat enough to sustain itself.

The fish still has a slightly turned up mouth, easily distinguished from the rest of the cats, but it's no longer in any doubt that this fish will survive. After about 8 months with us, he's fine.

I don't think a catfish witha bent nose is any worse of then a catfish without one. I don't think it would have hurt "much" either because it is only the soft fleshy tissue which bends upwards and not the bone.

I wouldn't try fixing it either, you will most likely do more harm then good.
