cory cleaning crew in fry tank?

Post by alvin »

hi folks
can bronze corys be used to eat up the uneaten food in a tank of new born danio fry? will they eat the fry? also will they eat up the infertile eggs on the bottom of the tank? will apple snails be a better option? any info will be greatly appreciated. tks

I once saw a whole litter of green acara (now Cichlasoma portalegrensae) been eaten by 2 Corydoras, before they could swim well. Corydoras will need to be fed proberly, or they will swallow the fishes.

I think apple snails will be saver - when the fry swims, that is
cats have whiskers

I lost a whole spawn of white/Gold Apistogramma cauacatuoides which had been swimming for ten days. Apparently the breeder sized Corydoras sterbai ate them while they slept at night.

I think something like red cherry shrimp are a better choice as a clean up crew with perhaps a very small common Ancistrus sp 3.

hi apistomaster
we dont get cherry shrimp over here. not sure if they are illegal here. decided to go the apple snail route. the ancistrus can be a bit of a fussy cleaner except when baby marrows and algae are involved. tks for the help
