They are not fussy eaters and will take most foods. Bloodworms (live or frozen), granules (like Tetra Bits) and sinking pellets (shrimp/carnivore) are all taken with gusto.
Feed them small amounts every day, or larger amounts (until their stomachs visibly swell) every other day.

Just bought some pellets for pond kept sturgeons (high in protein and low in price) an my pictus's love them.. :)

make a note that high protein foods aren't always the best, the higher the protein and the more you feed, the more pollution is going to end up in your water as the unused protein is converted to amonia and other chemicals released as waste, as long as the protein level isn't above 50% then good investment ^_^

the pictus that i have had will eat anything that i fed them, i have used pellets(shrimp),earth and red worms, i have fed them common house snails that are local here in oregon, i have also used small goldfish and rosie reds. i dont think you can really get one that is a picky eater.
