Any ideas what it could be.

I have got 6 of them, looks like 3 pairs, will they be easy to breed?

Thank you.

I think it's sodalis. As far as breeding goes, I don't think it has been bred in captivity, if at all.

Hi syno321,

Thank you for reply.

I have had a look on the Cat-eLog and it does look like a sodalis.

The label on the tank said Cory Agassizii and priced at £4.25, do you know if i got a bargain or not?

Hi

That's about the right price for them in my part of the UK.

Ian Fuller (Coryman) has bred them and there is an account in his book 'Breeding Corydoradine Catfishes'.

C. sodalis is very rarely bred. Ian's success rate with Corys exceeds that of most would be Corydoras breeders.

Hi

I often wonder if rarely bred is merely a function of the species being unfashionable rather than difficult.

You hear about the fashionable ones being bred frequently, sterbai, panda, adolfoi etc. because these are the more commonly kept due their good looks. The more subtle ones like sodalis are not often kept specifically with the intention of breeding them.

There is a real possibility that they are quite simple to breed once you discover their trigger.

Cheers

Matt

Hi Matt,

You are so right.

I got these corys thinking they were something else but that is not going to stop me from having ago at breeding them.

I personally think they look very nice, when the light hits them the right way, they seem to shine and sparkle but that is a woman's point of view lol :D

We (my hubby & i) have breed Cory caudimaculatus. I just found the eggs in the tank, dont even know how we did it. http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... =6&t=21855
