is there a more orange or red spotted colour form/morph of this fish.
i purchased mine as an L001 but it doesn't have white spots. but it is an joselimaianus, not a gibbiceps.

The ones I have seen all have yellow/orange spots. I think that is the typical coloration.

My L001 was black and white until I gave it some wood to eat, now its red/orange.
Donâ??t know if itâ??s the eating of the wood that changed his colour but it could be Possible .

I've seen both types described as leopard plecos. The one I got was dark with red/orange spots which get darker as they mature. I always wondered if the the ones with white spots were a different species? They look identical in every other way.

all the other ones i have seen were white spotted, like the L 001 picture in the aqualog. the spots appear to fade w/age, leaving the fish nearly all black, with faint spots.

this new batch recently came into the country, coloured w/a black background and dark red or rusty coloured round spots. i have no idea where they were imported from, could be wild caught or bred in asia somewhere. they might have been locally bred, but i doubt it.
it'll be interesting to see what these look like in a couple of years.
right now mine is about 5-6cm and shows typical glytoperichthys behavior.
anyone got photos of the red spotted ones? wonder if they look like mine.

Probably bred in Asia. The ones I have seen in Singapore all had orange spots, and they were the same price as common plecos, suggesting that they had been bred locally.

Hi!

I was wondering about the max size of the L001/022? Ive found max sizes ranging from 20 to 30 cm, which is quite a difference.
And what is a good price for one? I could get a 12 cm tl specimen for 5â?¬, would that be ok?

According to CLOFFSCA, maximum size is about 30 cm SL.

I recently brought 4 of these gold spot plecs. They are brown with yellowy orage spots. The ones I got were bred in Oz but the parents have recently died hence the availablity of them. I was also wondering the total size which I have been searching for and was told that big males can get up to 30cm but the rest stay around 20cm. I will be interested in what happens with these fish as I am planning on breeding them as I have been given a few tips on how to do it etc but I'll le you all know how i go.
